An Unforgettable Journey at Home of Charity / Camillian Chiangrai

My name is Sara, I am an Italian physiotherapist. I spent two months at the Camillian social center in Chiang Rai. With my partner Davide, we did physiotherapy for disabled students at the center. It was a wonderful experience. |
||
What struck me most was the determination of disabled students. They do not stop at anything, they don’t set limits on themselves but face everything (or almost) with a smile. Their energy has been really overwhelming in these two months. |

We worked with them in the physical room individually. The room for physiotherapy is very well structured, there is everything you need. Cheetah (Thai girl) worked with us during the morning and helped us a lot to interact with the guys, translating when needed. |
||
Along with Sister Cecilia, Jirasak and the rest of the staff made us feel at home. They have always been helpful and kind, making us discover the surroundings of Chiang Rai in our free time. |
||
A few days we went to the nearby villages where some children with severe disabilities live. It was a wonderful opportunity that allowed us to come into contact with the most rural realities and to understand where the boys of the Camillian social center come from. |

The center is really well organized, each volunteer has a room for two people, with private bathroom. The working hours in our case were 8.30 - 11.30 AM, 1-4 PM. These children unfortunately do not have stable rehabilitation figures, so volunteers are very important. |

I will carry in my heart the laughter, the hugs, the jumps on the trampolines, all the drawings and music played and sung together. |
