Months ago, I just turned to 20 years old. In this remarkable moment of my life, I want to do some remarkable things to myself and the society as well. The most difficult wish is to set an international voluntourism project by myself. At that time, I told myself that this is not only a volunteer activity, but also a big challenge because of its multi-nation and large scale. If this project gets ahead eventually, it can be a good example to touch people’s hearts and encourage them to pursue their dreams. In late 2013, I started to do the proposal. On January 9th, 2014, I handed my proposal to my parents, and the project called “Love Beyond Border.Love is Bigger” was born. It was the same date of my 20th birthday.

Before going to Thailand, more than 20 volunteers from my university ran the project in Taiwan. We went to 4 elementary schools and held drawing contest for around 200 children totally. The topics of the drawing contest consist in “Love”, “Consideration”, “Contentment” and “Courage”. Through the contest, we can not only get excellent works from children, but also pass “Love” and “3C Awareness” to their hearts in the meantime.

After the contest, we picked 6 masterpieces to print into postcards and sold in our campus. The income is used to support this project, includes the expense of holding drawing contest, postcards printing, materials and stationery for 240 children in CSCC. When we sell postcards, we invite the buyers to write a card to a child in CSCC with their pictures on it. The card will be given to the child when we go to Thailand. The child can write another card with his or her picture on, and send back to the Taiwanese. Through this process, the hearts between Thai children and Taiwanese postcard buyers may get closer.

I came to CSCC for two weeks from 7/17 to 7/30 with another three partners. Before heading to Thailand, lots of questions disturbed me, and they all made me feel worried. However, I realized that these are not big deals at all as soon as I arrived in CSCC. The center arranged us with well accommodation and meals, which are really out of our expectation. We have no obstacle between children in every dimension as their smiles kept melting our hearts. You can hardly imagine that you can have fun with children who have no common languages with you. However, I did! Though every child in Home of Charity has physical or mental problems, but you can feel they are happy and satisfied with their life easily. It is totally different from my country, where we have a much higher living standard. Most people in Taiwan, teenagers in particular, do no cherish what they have, and keep chasing what they do not need at all. It is truly a good lesson for us to learn.

During the two weeks in CSCC, we played lots of activities with children, which are all well prepared before we come to Thailand. Also, we held drawing contest for not only 25 special need children in Home of Charity, but also 215 children in Home for Disadvantaged. These excellent works are going to be brought back to Taiwan and printed into postcards for sell. The income is going to be donated back to CSCC in October. It is really a kindhearted cycle for our society. Besides, we held a night party for all 240 children before we leave. We thought the show we performed were very common. However, out of our expectation once again, the show drove all the children crazy. They screamed and shouted as we are superstars. Yes! We were superstars, however, in Chiang Rai only. Besides these special activities, we also did the same things as other volunteers do. We fed meals for children, had classes with them, helped them for taking bath, went to school and picked them up in the afternoon. I did lots of things that I had never ever done in my life. It was certainly a wonderful moment.

Time flies. Two weeks past just like two seconds. I can finally realize that why every volunteer here said they hope they could stay longer when I said goodbye to the children. In the last morning we went to school, dozens of children kept chasing our van when we leave. It was totally unforgettable. After we back to Taiwan, we decided to hold a sharing conference to students in our campus. It is our honor to be the first group to CSCC from Taiwan. We want to share this spectacular experience with them, and encourage them to do more for our society.

On behave of the head of this project, I would like to express our sincere thanks to CSCC.
