We are Elisa and Ylenia, two Italian girls that went at Camillian Social Center in September 2013. Before to go we were so worried, we had a lot of question in our minds: what can we do there? How can we concretely help? How can we contact and communicate with those children?

It’s so hard to describe an experience like that, is so unique and unique is what we received in that month.
Certainly is more what we received that what we gave; we could experience a lot of different feelings: sadness when we heard the story of the children, anger for the way that they live, thankful because we are so lucky compared with them, satisfied because we was doing a good deed, and the most important, happiness because those children’s smiles give hopeful and all seems better.

The center became our house for three weeks, Br. Gianni gave us a beautiful room with all comfort and Sr. Cecilia was so careful for all our needs.

In those weeks we helped teaching, playing, swimming or just staying with the children and they were so grateful for every moment that we spent with them.

We could know each individual child, particularly the special needs children and the work that they do for them is amazing because they give them a chance to live like normal children. But the most surprising thing is the autonomy that the children learn and the way that they help each other.

So we want to say thank you to Br. Gianni, Sr. Cecilia, Jirasak and all the staff of the Camillian Social Center to gave us the opportunity to had this experience, to took care of us in those 3 weeks and for the amazing work that they are doing to help the children.
