Before I arrived at Chiang Rai airport I was a bit of nervous of several reasons; I was a bit afraid they would forget to pick me up, and, if they don’t forget, how could I recognize them? And, how will it be at the centre? Am I going to like it?
Well, I can tell you, from the moment I got my luggage, Jirasak, 2 other volunteers and four children were waiting for me with a paper with my name written on it. This was for me so a warm and overwhelming welcome, a lot of my nervous was gone directly!
Arrived at the centre all the children were very curious to me and gave me hands and hugs. After diner the children sing a welcome song for me, so a special warm moment again!
 
I should say, the first 2 days were not so easy for me, the children were very special and sweet and Sister and Jirasak were very nice too, but I missed my boyfriend a lot. After two days, when I get to know the children better and had some things to do in the freetime, I felt a lot of better and the time really flies!
 
 
At the center I spend my time as pediatric physical therapist by doing exercises with the children. It is so nice how enthusiastic the children are to do exercises! For example, Dabee, before he comes to exercise he is doing a dance so happy is he. Anan is even in the evening asking if we do some exercises today and a lot of other children are asking during the day if they have exercise time today. This made me extra motivated to practice hard with the children.
Beside doing exercises I also have teached art to the children, and yoga at Friday morning for the girls.
 

In the afternoon I went most days for a walk and read some books. After diner I spend some time playing with the children; walking around the center or playing hide and seek or, just sitting around.

In the weekends I made several trips and every time I came back on Sunday night the children hugged me welcome again.
During my four weeks here Jiraksak and sister took me on a few trips, we visited the golden triangle, the white temple, I joined one day shopping and I went with the whole staff to Chiang Mai. It was very nice and special to make these trips with them.

Now, at the moment of writing, I have just three days left at the center. The four weeks are really going very quick.

 

 

I want to say thanks to all the children for their warm welcome and enthusiastic exercising with me. I want to say thanks to the cooks how made everyday a very good diner and I want to say a special thank you to Jirasak and sister for giving me such a good and pleasant stay!
